I can predict with pretty good accuracy what Halloween costumes are going to be popular for 2024. It's not because I am a fortune teller or can predict the future either. It's because the Google Trends Team released Halloween-related search data and any fool knows that if people are searching for costumes, it's because they intend to dress up as whatever they searched. I thought I would share the top 10 trending costumes this year for two reasons.

Reason No. 1: Sharing so that you can be inspired and pick a costume idea that resonates from the list. Reason No. 2: Sharing so you can buck the trends if you don't want to spot too many other people in the same costume as you. Both totally valid reasons. And so, I present to you the top 10 Halloween costumes this year in descending order, because a countdown is always more exciting than a count up.

10. Lady Deadpool got very popular in July.
When the movie Deadpool & Wolverine came out on July 22, 2024, “lady Deadpool costume” became a breakout search, according to the Google Trends Data Team. The movie was a huge hit, so it makes sense that it would get a lot of representation during Halloween.
You might have to do a DIY version, if you don’t already have the costume.
All the people who started searching early for their Lady Deadpool costumes were smart to do so because at this point, it is hard to find a ready-to-wear option for purchase at a reasonable price. It was sold out everywhere I looked or it could not be delivered in time for Halloween.
9. Sabrina Carpenter in a heart corset is inspiring many.
Google Trends reports that "‘heart corset’ is being searched more than ever in 2024, and Sabrina Carpenter is the top person searched with it." She wore a yellow corset with a heart cutout to the 2024 Governors Ball in New York on June 8.
She's worn heart cutout corsets on multiple occasions, and you could make your own.

Raygun represented Australia in the breakdancing competition at the 2024 Olympics. She did not medal, but she certainly left a lasting impression. Google Trends reports that people searching "Raygun costume" are also searching for "green and yellow track suit" and "green track pants."
Go thrifting.
I couldn't really find any costume options that could be delivered on time, so maybe head to your local thrift store and see if you can find a green and yellow tracksuit or maybe just give Raygun a break and pick something else. Pobrecita. I feel bad for her and at this point the joke is getting old.

In case you were wondering "Beetlejuice shrunken head" is the top searched shrunken head of all time. I mean, I guess being a shrunken head in a Hollywood movie means you are famous and have fans.
