Alex Rodriguez uplifts Jennifer Lopez with heartfelt note after Golden Globes loss

The 2020 Golden Globes were set to be a big night for Jennifer Lopez. It was the first time in 20 years, since her starring role in Selena, that she had been nominated for an award. The actress couldn't hide her excitement when it was announced that she was up for best performance by an actress in a supporting role in any motion picture at the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards for her role in Hustlers.

The award show took place on Sunday, January 5, and while J.Lo's fans were rooting for her to walk away with a trophy, she ultimately went home empty handed. Even though she wasn't a winner in that specific, her fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, reminded her that she is a champion with or without a Golden Globe.

Laura Dern took home the award.

Laura Dern won the award for best supporting actress for her role in Netflix's Marriage Story. J.Lo was nominated for Hustlers, joined by Kathy Bates for her role in Richard Jewell, Annette Bening in The Report, and Margot Robbie in Bombshell.

Alex Rodriguez took to Instagram to remind his lady how special she is.

Leave it to A-Rod to make sure his future wife felt like a winner even if she lost in her category. The athlete penned her the sweetest note to uplift her after the award show was over and shared it on Instagram on Sunday night. "Jen, it doesn’t take a trophy, medal, or plaque to identify a true champion," he captioned a cute photo of her on the red carpet. "To millions of young women who have watched you and have been inspired and empowered to do amazing things in their lives, you are a champion."

Jen ended up being a real winner because of her man's sweet words.

"For countless musicians, dancers, actresses, and performers who have seen and emulate your passion, drive and work ethic to find their own success, you are a champion," A-Rod continued. "To your children, your family, your coaches, your staff, and your extended family, you are a champion. To everyone whose lives you enrich daily, you are a champion. And don’t you ever forget it. ❤️❤️❤️." Now that's love!

The actress was moved by his words.

The actress made sure she returned the love and shared her reaction for the world to see. She sweetly commented on the post writing, "You are my everything." Others also chimmed in on A-Rod's post, including singer Maxwell who commented: "You’re a winner and forever more to all of us." She is!

In true Jenny from the Block fashion, she didn't let this bring her down.

As upsetting as this loss might have been for her, especially after she was so clearly excited about the nomination, Jen didn't let the loss go to her heart. She could have gone back to her hotel room and hid under the covers, but instead she changed into her after-party dress and happily hit the dance floor. And that is what makes her a champion.
