Jennifer Lopez sat down to talk to the UK's Evening Standard Magazine, and she had a lot to say, which is not surprising. After all, it's been quite a year for J.Lo. She got engaged to Alex Rodriguez, she went on tour, she turned 50, and the movie Hustlers that she stars in opens in theaters on September 12. All this, and the year is not even close to being over.

One of the most interesting parts of the interview is when Jennifer shared why marriage is so important to her and Alex. You might think that because Jennifer has been married three times before and Alex has been married once before that their views on marriage would not be all that traditional, but that's not the case. They are both strongly influenced by their traditional upbringing when it comes to marriage.
Both J.Lo and A-Rod have careers that put them in the spotlight. They travel in private jets, can afford just about anything, and don't live the kind of lives that most people would consider "traditional" by any sense of the word. But don't get it twisted; when it comes to what is important in life, they are very traditional. That's especially true when it comes to marriage, as you will see.
They've been together for years and engaged for months.
Jennifer and Alex started dating in February 2017. In March of this year, Alex got down on bended knee and asked Jennifer to marry him. She said yes, but it's been months now, and they don't seem to be in any kind of rush to pick a date or start planning their wedding. Not that there's anything wrong with enjoying a long engagement.
Jennifer and Alex both think marriage and family are important.
Jennifer made it clear during her interview with ES Magazine that marriage is important to her and Alex big time. "We both come from traditional Latin families and we want that," she said.
Jennifer and Alex may not be married yet, but they have already become a blended family. As you can see from the series of pictures here, they radiate joy when they are surrounded by family.
But why exactly is marriage so important to the couple?
Jennifer broke it down like this: "Everyone wants somebody to grow old with. At the end of the day, how much work can you do, how much money can you make, and what does it all matter? It doesn’t, really." Tru dat!
And just look at these two; they really seem to bring each other joy.
Why is it taking them so long to walk down the aisle?
Well, they are J.Lo and A-Rod, which means they are extremely busy. "I have a movie I’m shooting in October and the movie has an album that goes with it, so I’m just a little bit busy right now, and until October, he has the World Series in baseball," Jennifer explained.
They're talking dates, but they haven't picked one yet.
"We’re going to have to pick a day, pick a time and block it out, but we’re definitely talking about it," she said.
