The rapper shared an Instagram video of himself on Wednesday, June 20, meeting 16-year-old Jomar, and his smiled was so big it lit up the room. Daddy Yankee arranged the reunion just days after the child made a plea to meet him via video from his hometown of Barranquitas, Puerto Rico.
While reggaeton artists often get a bad reputation because of their music, this clip of the "Despacito" rapper shows a side of him that will make even his toughest critics feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Daddy Yankee was humbled by the meeting.
“Today I met a new friend named Jomar. An angel with a noble heart that transmits light toward his people,” he captioned the sweet clip. “Thank you Jomar for sharing your friendship with me it’s an honor to be your friend.”
Jomar was speechless when he first laid eyes on his idol!
The fan was sitting in a restaurant with his family when he was suddenly joined by Daddy Yankee. He covered his face in shock at first and then jumped out of his seat to give the musician a big hug. The Grammy nominee said to him, “It’s a pleasure to meet you. I saw your video!”
The pair posed for adorable pics together.
The meeting was in part thanks to a viral video the child’s mom shared on Facebook and his teacher, Maestra Diana from the Centro de Cuido Desarollo y Aprendizaje in Puerto Rico. She shared a ton of photos of the child and the rapper, and they both looked so happy! Check out those HUGE smiles.
Jomar showed he is a man of his word.
The original video, which went viral, showed Jomar holding a drawing he made for the “Gasolina” singer. The child expressed how much he loved Daddy Yankee and said he would give him a huge hug when he met him. Oh, and his favorite song from the reggaeton artist is, of course, “Dura.” So glad to see his dream came true!
