The aftermath of Hurricane Maria on the island of Puerto Rico has been devastating to say the least. The storm not only left millions of residents without power and destroyed homes, but at least 16 people have died. Celebrities have really stepped up to help the people of Puerto Rico get back on their feet and it's been an inspiration to see.

Tough times like this call for people to rise up and really help out and quite a few stars including Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and Daddy Yankee–just to name a few–have really done their part in contributing to Puerto Rico's Hurricane Maria relief efforts.
Some have raised funds, while others have donated large sums of money or flown their private jets down to help cancer patients continue their chemo (thanks, Pitbull). With Puerto Rico's infrastructure practically destroyed, it's crucial that the people there get the help they need to get supplies, water, food, and more to the people. Here's a look at a few celebs that are honestly the heroes of the day!
Jennifer Lopez has donated a lot of money.
The New York City-born and raised star recently donated $1 million from her Las Vegas residency proceeds towards the island hurricane relief.
Alex Rodriguez and Marc Anthony teamed up to help out.
Jennifer Lopez has worked with both her ex-husband Marc Anthony and her current boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez, who paired up with the New York Yankess and Major League Baseball to raise money to send to Puerto Rico.
Lin-Manuel Miranda has raised awareness.
The composer, lyricist, playwright and actor of Puerto Rican descent has urged his followers on social media to donate to the Hispanic Federation, a charity that's sending 100 percent of their proceeds to Puerto Rico.
Pitbull lent his private plane.
The Cuban, Miami-raised rapper lent his private plane to transfer cancer patients in Puerto Rico to the United States so that they can receive chemo and it truly is one of the most self-less acts I've ever seen.
Daddy Yankee is urging everyone to do more.
"A lot of people don't know I'm from Puerto Rico," he said on CNN's New Day. "I have my family there, I have my wife, my daughter, and I live there still… and we really need your help. A lot of people don't know that Puerto Ricans are American citizens… we need the federal money for the citizens and for the government to help the locals."
Gina Rodriguez has also urged people to donate.
The Jane The Virgin star who is of Puerto Rican descent posted a video urging fans to donate to the Hispanic Federation and to do their part to help the island.
Ricky Martin is also encouraging people to donate.
He posted a video to Instagram opening up about how he hadn't from his family in Puerto Rico and the importance of donating to the island right now.
Aubrey Plaza also wants folks to donate.
The actress, whose father is of Puerto Rican descent, tweeted a link to the Generosity fundraiser that's sending 100 percent of their proceeds to help Puerto Rico.
Nicky Jam has reached out to his fans.
The rapper is working with organizations to make sure Puerto Rico gets the help that they need. "I have my two daughters over there and my father and my grandmother. Almost all of them live near the beach. I haven't been able to have any communication with any of them and the airports are destroyed," he said in a heartbreaking video he posted to Instagram. "I'm going to do a concert so that all of the proceeds go to help Puerto Rico."
