Selena Gomez__ might be young and in love but she's certainly NOT dumb. In a recent interview with InStyle, the pop star opened up about her notoriously private but adorable relationship with boyfriend, The Weeknd (whose real name Abel Tesfaye). Apparently she's in a really healthy place and isn't letting her love life dictate the rest of her life. Selena Gomez doesn’t allow herself to get influenced by a guy.
"I really am [happy]. It’s great," she said. "I don’t depend on one area of my life to make me happy. It’s really important for me to love and nourish my friends and family, and to make sure that I never get influenced by a guy. I’ve wanted to be in a strong headspace for years, and I really wasn’t. Before, I was so young and easily influenced, and I’d feel insecure." Bye, bye, Justin Bieber and hello to The Weeknd!
Jennifer Lopez doesn’t think women should wait for their prince charming.
After splitting from her ex-husband Marc Anthony, J.Lo claims she realized that the whole fairytale marriage thing isn’t real. She gave some really deep and thoughtful advice to women in her memoir, True Love. "We’re taught from very little that this fairytale guy is going to come along and he’s going to save you and he’s going to be on a white horse," she wrote. "So you’re waiting for someone to bring you your happiness. It’s so twisted." Like she says, "You got be happy on your own." We couldn’t agree more! Maybe that's why her and Alex Rodriguez make such a great pair.
Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello put the other person’s happiness before their own.
"We realized very early on that we each had to put the other person’s happiness and well-being ahead of our own," Joe said in an interview with HOLA magazine! This philosophy seems to be working well for them.
Eva Mendes says sweatpants leads to divorce.
So how exactly has Eva managed to keep one of the hottest guys in Hollywood, Ryan Gosling? According to her, she doesn’t let herself go. “No no no, sweatpants, no no no … you can’t do sweatpants,” she told Extra. "Ladies, number one cause of divorce in America, sweatpants–no, you can’t do that!” But Eva and Ryan aren’t married, though. Just saying.
Gloria Estefan says be life partners.
If there’s one couple we’d definitely take relationship advice from it’s Gloria and Emilio Estefan. The two have been married for over 35 years. "We are partners in everything," Gloria told Latina magazine. "Emilio has been there for me and I’ve been there for him. It’s been a great balance."
Jessica Alba believes in small gestures.
"I don’t think romance is always about swinging from chandeliers (although it’s nice from time to time)," she wrote in an essay for iVillage back in 2013. "Recently, when filming a movie in Atlanta, Cash surprised me by having a beautiful bouquet of flowers delivered to the set. It was a simple, heartfelt surprise that let me know he was thinking of me during my time away from home. I loved it." America Ferrera and her husband of 12 years have a lot of fun.
America is private, so she rarely talks about her husband in interviews, but based on her Instagram feed it’s fair to assume that the two have a lot of fun goofing off and making each other laugh. They say laughter and friendship is the key to a happy relationship.
Shakira doesn’t believe in rushing to get married.
Shakira and Gerard Piqué might have two kids together but it looks like the trick to their long-lasting relationship is not rushing to get hitched. "We already have what’s essential, you know?” she told Glam Belleza Latina. "We have a union, a love for each other, and a baby. I think that those aspects of our relationship are already established and marriage is not going to change them. But if I’m ever going to get married, he’s the one."
