La La and Melo started dating in 2003 after meeting at a nightclub.
He sent over a bottle of Moët & Chandon to impress her. "I thought it was so lame," she said in an interview with the NY Times in 2011.
In December 2004, the NBA player proposed to La La with a 8-carat cushion-cut diamond.
They were quickly becoming a power couple.
After two years of engagement, La La and Carmelo announced that they were expecting a baby boy.
Lala continued to work as an MTV VJ on TRL at the time.
In March 2007, La La and Melo welcomed their son Kiyan.
They wanted to plan the wedding after the birth of their baby. How did she feel about the long engagement? "We never got caught up in that because we knew that we had a strong solid relationship," she said in an interview.
They got married in 2010 at New York City's lavish Cipriani restaurant.
La La wore an ivory satin dress designed by Vera Wang. The wedding looked like a dream come true.
By 2012, La La's career was going on full swing while Melo had his successful basketball career.
The Latina star was adding producer to her resume along with launching her own makeup line, Motives for La La. She was also starring in her own VH1 reality show, La La's Full Court Life.
Their busy schedules started stirring rumors that Carmelo was straying.
"I wouldn’t be with someone if he was cheating on me. I’m not okay with that. There’s no part of me that’s okay with that. Now, I don’t go looking for things, but if I was to find out, I would deal with it. But I trust my husband,” she said in a 2012 interview.
In 2013, La La addressed cheating rumors again on the television show 'Bethenny.'
"I know we have a great relationship; he’s my best friend. And, that’s what I focus my energy on. If we think too much about what’s going on when we’re not there and checking phones and cracking email codes, like, that will drive a woman crazy. You have to be secure in yourself," she said.
By 2014, La La was spending more time on the west coast since her film career took off.
She hinted to TMZ that she was secretly hoping he would get traded to the Lakers. That didn't happen.
La La was also accused of having an affair with rapper Maino in 2015.
His ex named Patrice E blasted La La for being responsible for their split. "@lala does your husband know that your hoe ass has been f—king my daughters father. That you slept over his house the other night after the movies," she wrote. La La denied the rumors.
For their 7-year anniversary, La La honored her husband with a sweet message.
"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live that long minus one day, so I never have to live without you," she wrote.

Carmelo reportedly got an exotic dancer pregnant.
Although this has not been confirmed, TMZ reports that the woman who works at a gentleman's club in New York City is currently 6 months pregnant. She's looking for him to pay medical bills and expenses for the baby.
La La has reportedly moved out of their shared New York City home and is residing in her own apartment with her son.
"The marriage has always been a rocky one, so this is no surprise," a source told The Daily News.
