28 Times celebrities proudly showed off scars, stretch marks, & ‘imperfections’

We have come a long way as a society in terms of body acceptance. Stretch marks and scars are losing their stigma because of the realization that no one is perfect and therefore no one is imperfect. We now know that the standards of beauty set by the fashion, beauty, and entertainment industries are not realistic. The majority of the images we see have been Photoshopped heavily, and it's incredibly freeing to know that there's no need for us as women to meet such impossible standards.

Social media has become a place where women, and celebrities in particular, are ripped apart because of their looks or perceived flaws. But some famous celebs have taken their power back and started sharing photos that show their human side, without hiding their scars, cellulite, stretch marks–or any other part of their bodies that some might deem as "imperfect."

More from MamásLatinas: SEE: Salma Hayek proudly shows off her gray hair & we love her for it

The "imperfections" we used to lose sleep over have suddenly become less of a big deal, especially when celebrities who are picked apart in tabloids and social media embrace them publicly. It sort of gives us comfort to see supermodels and pop stars show that they too have "flaws" and that it is OK and nothing to be ashamed about. If they can show off their scars to millions of fans, why can't we?

From Salma Hayek to Demi Lovato, stars are no longer as worried about what people might think. Instead, they are sharing their real selves with fans and giving other women the power and inspiration to do the same. Here are some celebrities who are unapologetic about their "flaws" and aren't afraid to show them off to the world.

Demi Lovato is CELLULIT!

This photograph Demi posted of herself that shows her cellulite like it's no big thing–because it really is no big thing–is beautiful, but the caption she wrote to go with it is EVERYTHING. It reads:

"This is my biggest fear. A photo of me in a bikini unedited. And guess what, it’s CELLULIT!!!! I’m just literally sooooo tired of being ashamed of my body, editing it (yes the other bikini pics were edited – and I hate that I did that but it’s the truth) so that others think I’m THEIR idea of what beautiful is, but it’s just not me. This is what I got. I want this new chapter in my life to be about being authentic to who I am rather than trying to meet someone else’s standards. So here’s me, unashamed, unafraid and proud to own a body that has fought through so much and will continue to amaze me when I hopefully give birth one day. It’s such a great feeling to be back in tv/film while not stressing myself with a strenuous workout schedule before 14 hour days, or depriving myself from a real birthday cake rather than opting for watermelon & whip cream with candles because I was terrified of REAL cake and was miserable on some crazy diet [expletive]. Anyway, here’s me, RAW, REAL! And I love me. And you should love you too! Now back to the studio.. I’m working on an anthem.. ‍♀️ also. Just so everyone’s clear.. I’m not stoked on my appearance BUT I am appreciative of it and sometimes that’s the best I can do. I hope to inspire someone to appreciate their body today too.  #nationalcelulliteday #celluLIT  "
