Selena Quintanilla’s dad goes to war against her widower Chris Perez

Abraham Quintanilla is going to war against Chris Perez. Yes, Selena Quintanilla's dad and her husband have revived their feud more than 20 years after her death. Of course there is money involved. The details are dramatic, but also sort of sad.

According to different reports, Mr. Quintanilla has sued Perez and the production company Endemol Latino for violation of contracts and rights.

The whole drama is about the TV Series that Endemol and Perez are developing about Selena's life, based on her widower book To Selena With Love.

The lawsuit states that the property rights of Selena belong to her family and says Perez's book was unauthorized, which means any adaptations of the work are strictly forbidden*.*

I'm no lawyer, but it seems to me that the time to complain was when Perez published his book in March, 2012. But then, A.B. Quintanilla, Selena's brother, confirmed that his ex brother in-law had asked the family for permission to write it and that everybody was happy about it.

Since then, Perez has been part of Selena's many tributes together with the Quintanilla family.

Obviously, things have changed now that the book is going to TV. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that Perez got a pretty penny for the rights and Mr. Quintanilla wants a chunk of it.

After the news of the lawsuit broke, this is what Selena's widower wrote on his Facebook page:

But I wonder if the fight is also about old wounds.

Don't forget that Selena and Chris Perez eloped to protect their relationship from her dad. It was not a good way to start and it doesn't seem that the end will be pretty either.
