Do you remember Melissa Carleton, that woman who has been in a coma since she was 26 weeks pregnant? Well she finally gave birth to a healthy baby boy this week via C-section. Fortunately, the baby is safe and sound, but what about his mom?

Carleton's husband, Brian Lande, got to take his son home this week. But his wife has remained in the hospital still in a coma. She was able to carry the baby boy to full term with him still in good health and even was able to deliver him by C-section. But she's still not moving much, unable to speak, to carry her breastfeed her baby or even carry him.
It all started a few months ago when Carleton developed a brain tumor during her pregnancy. Even though the tumor was benign, she didn't want to undergo surgery to remove it until the baby was born. Problem is, it attacked quickly and aggressively and before she knew it, Carleton's health was deteriorating. One morning she suffered a seizure that left part of her brain damaged and forced doctors to perform an emergency surgery to remove the tumor.
Luckily, there's still hope. Carleton is now able to open her eyes, squeeze her family members' hands and is somewhat conscious of her surroundings. In fact, she was the most conscious she's been in weeks when she delivered her baby boy.
Her husband has been so supportive and hoping for a miracle. "I told Melissa how much I missed her and how much her … touch had meant to me," he wrote on Facebook. "Melissa opened her eyes again, looked at me and puckered for a kiss. I could not help but kiss her and cry."
Carleton is still in the hospital recovering from surgery and will eventually be moved to a rehabilitation facility where doctors hope she'll be able to come out of her coma.
It's a miracle this woman was able to deliver a healthy baby boy. But the fact that she can open her eyes, touch and be aware of her surroundings is a good sign that she might just come out of her comatose state. Let's keep her in our prayers and hope she recovers 100 percent–especially now for the sake of her new baby boy!
