Time 100 Most Influential list: Alfonso Cuaron & 4 other amazing Latinos honored

Time __magazine has just released its annual list of the "Top 100 Most Influential People" i__n the world, including artists, politicians, and scientists who have pioneered new ground and led to significant breakthroughs in their respective fields.

I always enjoy reading through this list, as learning more about the stories behind these amazing leaders is definitely inspiring. This year's top spot went to a famous face we all know and love, Beyonce … and I can't say I'm surprised, given her stellar year. But I was also thrilled to see several Latinos, from all different areas of work, make the cut. Check out who made the list below!

Academy award-winning director Alfonso Cuaron (the brains behind Oscar-nominated Gravity) made the list for his "arresting, visually stunning work in recent cinema." Fellow director J.J Abrams wrote a tribute to Cuaron for the magazine, saying he admires "the fact that in addition to bringing authenticity and emotion to pre-existing universes." Who can argue with that? Cuaron was unbeatable this whole awards season and for good reason.

Husband and wife pair Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez also made the list after their work on the soundtrack of hit Disney film, Frozen, including the smash track, "Let It Go," which won the Oscar for Best Original Song and spawned tons of viral covers. Talk about well-deserved! I couldn't go anywhere without hearing that song this year.

Pope Francis was also honored both for "his message of inclusion" and for his plethora of profound gestures, such as "embracing the sick, ministering to the homeless, washing the feet of young prisoners." Uruguay's Jose "Pepe" Mujica, who has been called for the world's poorest President, also made the list after signing a new law making Uruguay the first country in the world to legalize the production and sale of marijuana.

It's great to see these inspiring Latinos be honored for their work and all their amazing achievements by such a renowned publication. I have no doubt we'll only continue to see more great things from them and everyone else on the list!
