There are few things harder than admitting your shortcomings publicly. When publicly means in front of millions of people, the bravery is evident, particularly when we are talking about needing help to deal with mental illness and addiction like some of our favorite celebs have done. Yes, Selena Gomez, Eva Mendes, Mauricio Ochmann and many others are on the list.

The fact that these artists have chosen to share their ordeal with us makes them truly admirable. Their problems range from anxiety, depression, alcoholism, food addiction, and even sex addition.
Life can be messy for any of us and celebrity lives can get even messier. Have a look at what these celebs have gone through.
Selena Gomez's said that she had voluntarily checked into rehab in early January of 2016.
While her camp maintained it was for exhaustion, not for substance abuse, other sources claimed she actually sought help after her family grew concerned with Gomez's experimentation with alcohol, pot, and Ambien.
In reality, it was the first time she took a break after being diagnosed with Lupus. She did it again in 2017, when she cancelled her tour to take part in a program for young women with emotional issues. Gomez admitted that anxiety was making her life very hard.
Last summer she also took some weeks off to get a kidney transplant.
Demi Lovato's issues were so public.
The reason you know all about it, is that Demi has bravely told her story over and over again in the hopes that it will help other addicts beat addiction and mental health issues. If that's not inspiring, we don't know what is!
Raúl de Molina has made a career of being "El Gordo."
But it doesn't mean he is happy about it. The Cuban-American TV presenter already went under the knife for a gastric bypass surgery in 2015 and lost around 200 pounds, but he has admitted to have gained back most of it and announced that he was going to a food addiction rehab clinic in Miami.

But life wasn't always so sweet. In several interviews Ochmann revealed that he started drinking at 9 years old and taking drugs as a teenager. He got treatment in 2006 and has been sober ever since.
Eva Mendes entered a rehab clinic in California in 2008.
"I'm proud of people who have the determination and the fearlessness to actually go and face their demons and get better," Mendes said of her decision to get help. "This is a life or death situation."
Of all the celebs who have gone to rehab in Hollywood, Nicole Richie has undoubtedly undergone the biggest transformation.
The former Simple Life star–who allegedly entered rehab for an addiction to heroin–has transformed into the responsible mother of two beautiful children: Harlow Winter Kate Madden and son Sparrow James Midnight Madden. "People ask me, do I blame Hollywood or my parents?" Richie told InStyle U.K. in 2010. "No, I don't blame my parents. It had nothing to do with them. I created it and manifested it, and I got myself through it with the help of a lot of great people," she said.

Oscar de la Hoya has struggled with alcohol and cocaine abuse for years.
In September of 2014, the Mexican-American boxer voluntarily checked himself into rehab to battle these issues. "This is the biggest fight of my life," de la Hoya told Univision two years ago. "I could put all my opponents in one ring and battle all of them, but this monster is going to be the toughest fight of my life." This week, it was announced that de la Hoya was released after completing a 90-day substance abuse program in rehab. "Oscar is doing really well and is now going to lots of (AA) meetings and determined to follow his after care program," Fox News reports.
In 2013, Elizabeth Vargas did the bravest thing ever.
The 20/20 anchor revealed in a tweet that she was out of rehab for alcohol abuse. “Hello everyone! I am home, and so grateful for all your support and well wishes. I am so much better and taking it one day at a time." We love Elizabeth, especially because when she entered rehab, she released this beautiful message to her followers:
Like so many people, I am dealing with addiction. I realized I was becoming increasingly dependent on alcohol. And feel fortunate to have recognized it for the problem it was becoming. In 2001, Mimi was hospitalized for extreme exhaustion and a physical and emotional breakdown, whcih led her to remain under medical supervision for two weeks.
In January of 2011, Charlie Sheen checked himself into rehab.
"He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern." Sheen’s publicist Stan Rosenfield said in a statement at the time. He did it after a very public meltdown. Since then, he also admitted he is HIV positive.
In 2013, Puerto Rican Elvis Crespo did something awful.
He got into a fight with a restaurant worker, who didn't allow him to go to the bathroom while holding an alcohol bottle. The episode became viral and the "Suavemente" singer realized it was time to stop. He checked himself into a rehab facility and has been sober ever since.
Mexican actor and singer Pablo Montero is no stranger to scandals.
After his wife, Carolina, almost filed for divorce in 2015, the "Olvidarte jamás" singer went voluntarily into an addiction clinic in México. The move paid off, the mother of his two daughters took him back.
Julián Figueroa was only 17 went he went into rehab in 2015.
