Can you imagine being a nun and missing a call from the pope? How embarrassing, no?! Pope Francis is getting quite a reputation for making unexpected calls. I think it's really wonderful that he takes the effort to connect with people that way. On December 31 of 2013, the pope rang the community of Carmelite nuns of Lucena in Cordoba, Andalusia, Spain. Now you would think that there would be at least one nun on hand to answer the phone, but nope, the machine picked up, and the message the pope left, just goes to show that he has a sense of humor.

Now in defense of the nuns, there where once many in the community, but at the moment there are only five. When the pope called them at 11:45 a.m., they were all out apparently, and the pope had no alternative, but to leave a message. Here's what he said, "What are the nuns doing that they can't answer [the phone]? I am Pope Francis, I wish to greet you in this end of the year, I will see if I can call you later. May God bless you!"
Hahaha, that's a very cute and cheeky message, you can listen to the original in Spanish here.
So I wonder what the nuns were doing? Whatever it was, I'm sure they were bummed to have missed the call, but fortunately Pope Francis called back at 7:15 p.m. and did get a chance to holler at them.
