True Miracle happens on flight to Puerto Rico!

You are not going to believe this story because it is nothing short of a miracle. I'm actually in tears over here because of what 63-year-old Jeanne Gallahue, a first responder and CPR instructor, was able to accomplish with the help of a plane full of people headed to Puerto Rico. Gallahue, of Westwood, Massachusetts, was on the December 8, 2013 JetBlue 1347 flight to Puerto Rico with her family, they were excited about commencing thier week-long vacation when something horrible happened. One of the flight attendants started screaming for help. According to Gallahue, the attendant was yelling, "I need medical! I need a doctor! I need a nurse immediately!" Gallahue made her way to the back of the plane and what she found is every parent's nightmare.

Jasmine, a six-month-old baby girl, was blue and unresponsive. Gallahue's training and experience kicked in and she knew she had to take charge of the situation if that baby was going to have any chance of surviving. Thankfully, Rosemary Smith, who works as a cardiac intensive care nurse in Washington, D.C. was also on-board that flight. For two hours Gallahue and Smith worked to revive that baby and it was touch and go all the way. The baby would come to for a bit and then go right back to being unresponsive.

Although the plane was near Haiti at the time, Gallahue directed the pilot to turn around and land in North Carolina because she knew the distance from the airport to the hospital in Haiti and the language barrier would make things even more challenging for the baby's survival.

The miraculous end of the story is that Jasmine survived! Now, I personally think that Gallahue is a hero for helping to save Jasmine's life, but she says, "I'm not a hero I'm just very bossy and knew what to do to save the baby." Well, thank GAWD for bossy and competent people like Gallahue and Smith!
