Destitute single mom Jessica Robles was so desperate to feed her three children that she decided to commit a crime: she walked out of a Miami supermarket without paying $300 worth of groceries. But instead of arresting her, the police officer who responded to the call did the unthinkable when she found out Robles was stealing because she could no longer bear to see her kids starving.

Officer Vicki Thomas, a 23-year police veteran, charged Robles with a misdemeanor and then turned around, went back inside the supermarket and used her own debit card to buy $100 in groceries so that Robles and her family would have something to eat. Needless to say, Robles was flabbergasted.
"I made the decision to buy her some groceries because arresting her wasn't going to solve the problem with her children being hungry," Thomas told WSVN, a local news station.
And just like that, she restored my faith in humanity. Imagine what the world would look like if more people acted like this police officer …
Thomas' generosity didn't go unnoticed and as soon as the story got out, inspired by the cop's kindness, strangers wasted no time offering Robles even more help. All in all, the mom received $700 to go shopping at Walmart and was allowed to keep the money leftover after doing her shopping. But that's not all. Robles also got a job offer as a customer service representative from a company that installs business phone lines. She starts next Monday.
Robles couldn't hide her shock, but it was her 12-year-old daughter's sincere gratitude that most impacted me. The sobbing girl said that nothing was harder than having to tell her little brothers that there was nothing to eat. I'm sure she'll never forget so much generosity.
Hopefully, this amazing story of kindness will inspire others to do similar deeds and change someone's life forever.
