Is Black Thursday the new Black Friday?

Every year it seems that retailers go out of their way to maximize their Black Friday sales, they keep opening earlier and earlier. In 2012, Target decided to open their doors at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving, and other retailers followed. Now Macy's has announced that it will open most of its 800 stores at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving. The company said that the shift would be voluntary for workers. Yeah right, I'm sure there will be no pressure to work. HA! So will I be one of the shoppers still digesting my Thanksgiving meal and shopping for the ultimate holiday deals? HELLS to the NOOO!!!

You guys, I like stuff and deals as much as the next person, but this retail madness is too much. Take a minute to enjoy the day and be thankful for what you have before you get all crazy trying to get more stuff. People already miss out on time with their family because some of the hardcore Black Friday shoppers forego the holiday in order to camp out and be the first ones let into stores. Sheesh, are people going to start camping out on Wednesday now?

Really, can't we have a national holiday where stores are just closed? Where as a nation we all just sit back and reflect? Do we have to put our running shoes on right after gorging ourselves so that we can save, save, save, which if I'm not mistaken is also spend, spend, spend? As much as I like stuff and deals let's put it into persective here. The memories you will cherish are not the ones of how much you saved on a big screen TV.

Let retail employees have the day off and feel like they aren't missing out on being with family or loved ones.

Having said all that, if you do go out shopping on Thanksgiving, don't forget to pick up something nice for me.
