Being Latina means we are subjected to just about every stereotype you can think of. We're just good for making babies, uneducated, sexually charged creatures…the list goes on and on. It's gotten to the point that society really BELIEVES that this is what most of us are like.
Some make ignorant statements and don't even realize they're being offensive. It gets old, especially when we're faced with these stereotypes on a daily basis.

Thankfully, NOT everyone who isn't Latino thinks this way. But there are some major assumptions folks make about us that need to be debunked immediately! Here they are:
Latinas are all "sexy" and "spicy": Not all of us are sex pots. Don't treat us as sexual objects.
Latinas are easy: Because of the former stereotype, many men think we're easy. The amount of times I've heard this is seriously appalling.
Latinas are babymakers: Saying that all we're good for is having children is ignorant. Especially now with so many college-educated, career-oriented Latinas!
Latinas all dance well: Not if we're talking about my two left feet. Sure we can embrace and love music, but being a great dancer isn't an automatic.
Latinas don't know their dads: As a matter of fact, my dad was around and he wouldn't be too thrilled knowing I've been asked this.
Latinas are illegal: Really? Being Latina doesn't automatically make us "illegal" and yes, many of us speak ENGLISH.
Latinas are all good cooks and cleaners: Then I have seriously disgraced my culture because I'm fail at both of those things.
Latinas all have fiery tempers: Any woman (regardless of ethnicity/race) will unleash her "fiery" temper if you push her buttons!
Latinas are all voluptuous: Sorry boys, but not all of us look like Sofia Vergara. To compare us is unrealistic.
Latinas are uneducated: This is downright offensive to educated Latinas who are excelling in their careers right now or finishing up school.
