10-year-old girl who caught newborn thrown from burning building is my hero

Heroism knows no age. Even some of our youngest can be heroic as has been proven by Zna Gresham, a 10-year-old girl from Georgia. What did Zna Gresham do to earn her badge of heroism?

There was a fire in Gresham's DeKalb County apartment building on Thursday, she had exited safely from the building herself, but while she was outside, she saw that a female neighbor on the second story was throwing her children out the window to try and get them to safety. When the woman threw her newborn out the window, she asked for Zna Gresham's help and Gresham went into action.

Little Gresham actually caught the newborn! The woman's other children are 2 and 3 years old and they thankfully survived the 20-foot fall from their second story window with minor injuries, but it's hard to believe that a newborn would have been able to survive such an impact. The little girl not only kept the newborn from injuries, she may have saved that baby's life.

It appears that although some people were taken to the hospital, there are no fatalities as a result of the fire.

Watching the video below of Gresham recalling what she did and crediting everyone for that baby's survival is truly touching. I love that she is humble about her part in the rescue and believes whole-heartedly in taking care of her neighbors. That child is admirable and really has her head and heart in the right place. Thank heavens she was also in the right place to save a baby that day.
