Eliza Webb is my new hero. When the Seattle woman realized her car had been burglarized, she was astonished to find the thief had forgotten his cell phone inside. Instead of calling police to report the theft, like most of us would, Webb decided to go through the thief's contact list and call none other than his mom.

"This is a very uncomfortable phone call to make. I have your son's phone and I'm missing some things out of my car and I think the two might be related items," said Webb to the 19-year-old burglar's mom, according to KOMO News. Needless to say, the mom was devastated by the phone call.
It turns out that the teen had gotten drunk with an 18-year-old friend and together they had decided to go on a crime spree, breaking into several cars in Webb's neighborhood and stealing a series of items. Since Webb, who works with teens for a living, didn't want to involve the authorities, she decided to ask the burglars to go door-to-door apologizing for what they had done and returning the stolen items.
Webb should be commended for taking matters into her own hands. Both teens were super embarrassed and I have a feeling they learned a lot more from this experience than they would've should police had been involved. They're actually very lucky Webb decided not to rely on the judicial system because this crime–which they claim was done out of boredom and under the influence of alcohol–would've followed them for a long time.
