Dog rescues abandoned newborn from the trash & brings her to his loving family

A miraculous story comes out of Thailand after a dog rescued a newborn baby who was thrown out with the garbage. Pui, the hero in the story was wandering around the yard of her house when he saw the white plastic bag containing the infant alongside other trash and carried it back home. He alerted his owner, Gumnerd Thongmak, and his 12-year-old niece, Sudarat of his findings–which had a baby girl still alive in the bag.

Thankfully the baby was fine despite how she was found and now police are looking for her mother. How sad!

The Bangkok Post reports the Thongmak took the infant to a nearby hospital where they determined that she had been born premature at seven and a half months and weighed in at only four pounds. The baby was transferred to another hospital and police are asking for the help of those living in the Rua district to track down the baby's mother.

The 2-year-old dog has even been rewarded for his heroism. The Rua district Red Cross Chapter has given Pui a leather collar and medal for astutely rescuing the baby. His owner, Thongmak didn't go unrewarded either and received $10,000 baht which equals roughly $300 dollars by the Miracle Life Foundation.

There's even a possibility that the Thongmak family might adopt the infant after Gumnerd's wife said her initial thought was to take in the baby. She said she feels destiny brought them together after the infant was delivered to her doorstep. She has notified the government of her intentions, but before any action is taken, police want to find the biological mother whom they suspect may be a teenager working in a factory in a neighboring area.

It's terrible knowing that this baby was left to die on the street and thrown out like garbage. But it truly is a miracle that she is alive and well despite being born prematurely all thanks to this heroic doggie. Thankfully Pui was at the right place, at the right time and knew that something was wrong. He deserves the reward for his heroism and maybe if things fall through, the Thongmak family can take in the baby girl as their own. We hope that the infant has a full recovery and that police are at least able to track down the mother to get some questions answered.
