I was so touched by what has to be the cutest, most inspiring story I've heard all week. Connie Feda, a 49-year-old mother from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania decided to create a set of Down Syndrome dolls called Dolls for Downs inspired by her 13-year-old daughter. Hannah struggles with the chromosomal condition and complained that she couldn't find a doll that looked anything like her. Isn't that SO sweet? I have to say these dolls are the cutest little things I've ever seen!

Feda, a stay-at-home mom, began creating the dolls with intentions of creating mini-me versions of her daughter to play with. But she later decided to turn the project into a full-time job, in efforts to give every child who struggles with Down Syndrome a doll that resembles them.
This has to be the kindest and most genius mommy invention ever. Just think about how good a little girl is going to feel to have a pretty doll that looks just like what she sees in the mirror. Children with disabilities have to deal with enough on top of worrying about not being able to play with a doll that actually looks like them.
"I want to represent a child with disabilities in a honest, favorable light," Feda stated on her professional Facebook page.
The dolls are priced at $87.50 and currently available to pre-order, contain features that are typical of most children with down syndrome like almond shaped eyes, a flat nose, and pudgy hands along with various outfit options that allow kids to not only have fun changing their dolls clothes but ultimately develop motor skills. Pretty clever!
A doll like this is a constant reminder to kids with Down Syndrome that they are especially beautiful. Not to mention, most kids see their favorite toy like their best friend. And like Feda's logo says, 'everyone (despite their differences) deserves to have a best friend.' I just hope that more and more parents support this incredible mother's project and buy some of these cuties for their little ones. I just can't believe no one has ever thought of this before!
