Sometimes, unexpected surprises make for the best Christmas gifts and that was definitely the case when it came to 5-year-old Sophia Tricanico and her 14-year-old sister, Alexandra Schmidt. Recently, the two got more than they could've asked for when their dad, U.S. Army Spc. Alejandro Tricanico, showed up at their elementary school's assembly!
As seen in the hearwarming video below, father and daughters were reunited when Tricanico surprised them at the school during a special assembly honoring those in the military. The young girls, who were staying with their grandparents in New Jersey at the time, had no idea that their dad was even back in the States and had been for two weeks! Their mom, who was with Tricanico in North Carolina, confessed that keeping the secret was "very hard," but that it was all for the sake of pulling of a great surprise.
And that's exactly what it was! The two girls were stunned and joyful upon first seeing their dad, smiling through tears and saying "Daddy, I missed you so much." Aww! Isn't that incredibly sweet?

But what makes the whole thing even more amazing though is that the youngest daughter, Sophia had apparently been dreaming about seeing her dad just hours before it actually happened. "Oma, I saw daddy's face," she reportedly told her grandmother. "I dreamed he's going to pick me up from school!" Wow, talk about a sixth sense!
Now that Tricanico is back, they plan on returning to North Carolina as a family as his overseas deployment is completed. What an amazing gift…and it comes at the perfect time as the holidays are just around the corner!
