It's almost 2013! And as we approach the end of this year and the beginning of a new one, it's the perfect time to look back and reflect on all of the great moments we have experienced as a community in the past few months. Latina moms have done bigger and better things more this year than ever before. From having being one of the most influential voices in the election to watching our favorite celebs mark some major milestones to celebrating our first ever MamásLatinas Awards here, we are proud to say that our Latina mommies have had some pretty major moments–and there's more to come!

Olympian moms
This past summer, tons of Latino Olympians competed in the 2012 Games and many went on to win medals in their respective events. But one thing they all had in common? Crediting their moms for all their support! That's why we gotta pay tribute to all of those amazing Olympian moms, including Ryan Lochte's mother above!
Shakira confirms
After what seemed like an eternity of wondering "is she? isn't she?" Shakira FINALLY confirmed that she is expecting her first child with Gerard Pique. It's a big moment for the Latina star, especially since it looks like she's not taking any breaks in her career. She's set to take Xtina's place on The Voice next season!
Latina mom wins trip to space
Mercedes Becerra won the trip of a lifetime through a contest held by the hit CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory. The mom will be sent into orbit in 2 years and the trip will last all of 45 minutes (during which she'll be launched at mind-numbing speed into the atmosphere)*.

Valentina Guerrero's mom
Valentina Guerrero's mom must have been so PROUD of her daughter after Spanish designer Dolores Cortés named the adorable little Latina girl with Down syndrome as the face of an entire swimwear campaign! It marked a major moment not only for Latinos, but for kids with special needs.
Election 2012
Latinas had a HUGE impact on the outcome of this year's election.The president received 19 percent more female votes than his Republican rival Mitt Romney and 69 percent of the Latino vote!
Sara & Mary Jane Montoya join Gerber
Sara Montoya was shocked to discover that her adorable daughter Mary Jane had been chosen as the new face of Gerber! Not only will Mary Jane be starring in the campaigns next year, but Montoya and her husband also recieved a $50,000 grant which they say will go to the baby's future college education.
Camila Alves maternity style
Camila Alves, pregnant with baby number 3, rocked such amazing maternity style this year that we couldn't let it go unnoticed. Even while sporting a baby bump, she looked fierce and amazing, proving that pregnant women can be sexy too.
Jessica Alba's Honest Company
Though Jessica Alba founded the Honest Company in 2011, she took it to new heights this past year, winning tons of awards (including the one from Self magazine above) for her groundbreaking work. But the best part is that she's passing on her values to her daughters by teaching them to give back!
Glamis Haro
Glamis Haro became an inspiration to all by going back for her Master's Degree finally completing her education at age 50, proving to all of us that it's never too late.
