Neighbors pay rent for Latino family of boy with brain cancer (VIDEO)

It's rare nowadays to hear about strangers doing good deeds for others without expecting anything back. But 7-year-old Estavan Catalan and his family are receiving help as he battles a rare brain tumor and his parents struggle to not get evicted from their home during these hard times. The little boy was diagnosed with a rare type of brain tumor that sadly kills its victims quickly–many times within 18 months or less.

While this news is devastating for the family to begin with, they also faced eviction from their home as his father, Gonzalo, has been unemployed for quite some time and his mother, Yesenia, was supposed to start work the day he received the diagnosis. But as tragic as this story may be, there is a bright side that came in the form of generous and thoughtful neighbors.

I can't imagine how hard it must be for this family to have to deal with such sad and heartbreaking news about their son's health. They can barely afford to pay rent, let alone his medical bills, that it's a true blessing in disguise that their neighbors have come to their aid.

More than two dozen neighbors rushed over to help the family as they learned of the tragic news and knew they had to do something to help them. According to KWG.com, they reached out to the family's landlord and convinced him to allow a payment plan in which everyone contributed money to cover rent for about 5 months. The thoughtful neighbors even cleaned, mopped, and stocked their home with food upon Estavan's arrival.

I can't imagine hearing anything sweeter than the wonderful gestures the Catalan's neighbors have contributed to the family. It takes a lot for a person to be this selfless and these people give me hope that humanity isn't all that bad after all. It's important to pay it forward and the community is doing this in the ultimate way for this family as they go through a dark path that is–hopefully– temporary.
