First female high school quarterback is an inspiration to all girls (VIDEO)

I am absolutely amazed by Erin DiMeglio, the 17-year-old female quarterback in South Plantation High School. Although I was never that big into sports (I pretty much completely avoided engaging in any kind of physical activity when I was in school) she is truly an inspiration. In fact, she will be making Florida history when she joins the team as the third-string quarterback during a regular-season game this year.

Erin just played her first pre-season game last week, eliciting cheers from the crowd, the cheerleaders, her fellow players and even the opposing team. According to Fox News, Erin told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that she "couldn't take the smile off my face" and that "you'd think the other team would want to know why I'm there, but the other players have been great." They even shook her hand after the game, saying that "it was great I was playing football"!

It's a really touching story about breaking down stereotypes and this girl's courage. I'm really amazed by her because, to be honest, I never would have been brave enough to play a traditional boy's sport like American football. That's why I love Erin's story so much: it's truly inspiring me and other girls to go for what we want, despite the stereotypes that stand in our way. Plus, the best part? Everyone seems to be pretty accepting of Erin, too.
