It seems like no one–not even the rich and famous–is immune to the emotional aftermath of a tragedy as horrific the Aurora theater shooting. On Tuesday, the Dark Knight Rises star himself, Christian Bale, proved this by visiting the memorial for the victims of the shooting and stopping by the hospital where some of the injured have been recovering.
In a lovely and heartfelt move, the actor paid his respects to all those injured and killed, as well as thanked the medical staff and police officers who responded to the attack. Bale, who reportedly showed up at the hospital with little advance warning, was gracious and down-to-earth, posing for pictures in casual jeans and a plain black t-shirt. At the memorial, he and his wife even took part in an impromptu prayer circle.

What an amazing and sincere gesture! It's encouraging to see a celebrity take the time to lift the spirits of not just the victims, but an entire grieving community. And it obviousy worked–those present took to Facebook and Twitter to write about the star's spontaneous visit. "Wow!!! Thank you so much for the visit Christian!! What a great guy! Still in shock!" shooting victim Carey Rottman wrote on his profile.

Plus, I love that Bale's visit was of his own accord, without any media or press there. It was obvious that he had no pretense other than to pay his genuine respects to those affected by a tragedy that we, as a nation, are all trying to recover from.
