Toddler helps her daddy learn how to walk & talk again

Sometimes children are just as inspiring to adults as adults are to children. That's the case with 24-year-old U.K. dad__, Mark Ellis, who, after suffering a stroke, is re-learning how to talk by watching his baby daughter grow up.__

Two years ago, Ellis had a stroke that put him in a coma and caused a blood clot in his brain. When he came out of the coma, he was diagnosed with locked-in syndrome, a condition that leaves patients in a vegetative-like state and unable to communicate. He started making a slow recovery though, partly by undergoing speech therapy and partly by (at his therapist's suggestion) copying his young daughter, who was just learning to talk.

"He started to make the same sounds, and then the words came too," his wife Amy told The Sun. And amazingly enough, that's not the only way that spending time with his child has helped Ellis improve. Ellis also works on his speech by reading books to his daughter and develops coordination by playing with her.

Aww, doesn't that just tug at your heart strings? Though I know it must be extremely difficult and challenging for both Ellis and his wife to deal with the aftermath of the stroke, it's incredible that they're all working on his improvement as a family and that he is able to find inspiration in his daughter. At least he can take comfort in the fact that he is able to watch his child learn and grow and can do the same alongside her.

Plus, his beautiful story just goes to show that sometimes your kids can save you in unexpected ways. I wish him and his family all the best in his recovery!
