I'm so happy to be able to finish this week on such a high note and even more so because this story involves a Latino. U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Enrique Trevino has pledged to do one million push-ups in honor of his fellow soldiers. Yes! You read right: One million push-ups, which basically means he has to do 2,732 per day to reach his goal before the end of the year.
Trevino hopes to raise $20,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project, a non profit that provides programs and services to help fellow soldiers who come back from war severely-injured transition into civilian life. The Marine wants to make sure nobody forgets them and their sacrifices.

The whole thing started as a New Year's resolution when Trevino started talking about it and many people said he couldn't do it, that his body wouldn't be able to handle it. "That's their first mistake … telling a Marine you can't do something," said Trevino. His body has not only being able to handle it, but he recently reached the half mark with half a million push-up done and another half a million to go.
Trevino said that when his challenge went viral, he never imagined he'd all the support he's gotten so far. He has almost reached his goal of raising $20,000 with less than $2,000 to go and he still has until the end of the year. Looks like he'll definitely surpass that.

I just showed the video to my stepson who recently enlisted in the Marines and is leaving for boot camp this Sunday. He was pretty impressed and I, the proud stepmom, can only hope that the Marines teach him the same kind of values they taught Trevino because what he is doing is not only commendable, but also extremely noble.
