7-year-old Florida boy saves his little sister’s life!

A 7-year-old boy became a hero after recently saving his little sister from drowning. Brady Banasiak rescued 2-year-old Brooke Banasiak after she fell into a pool at the family's Florida home while trying to retrieve a ball.

Dad Rob Banasiak was making burgers on the grill and didn't immediately notice the toddler's fall when Brady, who had been playing on a trampoline, decided to jump into the pool. He felt something at his foot and saw his sister, not moving.

"At first I thought she was playing. Then, I remembered Brookie can't swim," Brady told a local news site.

The 58 pound Brady sprang into action, carrying his sister's 28 pound body (more than half his size!) to the surface. Brooke was lifted onto the ground and rolled on her side, where she soon started spitting up water. She was taken to the hospital shortly after and was released safely after a night of observation. Thankfully, no water was found in her lungs but doctors did say that if brave Brady had chosen to surface and call for help instead of carrying her up himself, his sister probably wouldn't have made it.

Wow! How amazing is this little boy? My eyes literally began tearing up while reading the story. Those parents are so lucky that the whole incident worked out the way it did. There were a thousand things that could have happened differently. I mean, what if Brady never decided to get in the pool in the first place? It could've resulted in a serious tragedy, another life taken away too soon.

The entire situation once again proves that parents need to pay closer attention to their kids. I mean, how many cases have there been lately when a young child's death could have easily been avoided if they had been watched more closely? And how many more times are we going to let it happen before people finally start to wake up?

Still, though I'm kind of angry at the little girl's parents, the fact that this boy is so young and acted so brave is truly inspirational. I am thrilled that the Banasiak family was so lucky and that Brooke is OK. Even though she must have been shaken, at least she knows she can always count on her big brother!
