If you're a chocolate lover like me then chances are you are familiar with the delicious hazelnut spread Nutella. It's the perfect pairing for crepes, fruits, cakes, and just about anything else. However as we all know, Nutella has tons of sugar and calories and isn't exactly the best dip to eat in great quantities.
That's why I took it upon myself to come up with my own "healthier" version. Trust me, you and the kids are going to LOVE it!

One of the things that concerned me when making this sweet treat was not overdoing it with sugar. I monitored this carefully as well as choosing other ingredients that would naturally sweeten the spread. As a result, the chocolate came out perfect and not as rich as the store bought brand.
If your kids love chocolate (and what child doesn't?) this is the perfect healthier alternative for an after school snack . Heck, even you can indulge without breaking your diet!
Check out my recipe below:
__Ingredients:
__2 cups of hazelnuts
1 1/2 tbsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup of cacao powder(or cocoa powder)
1/4 cup of maple syrup (or agave nectar)
1/2 cup of almond milk
2 tbsp coconut oil
Pinch of sea salt
Directions:
Roast hazelnuts for about 10 minutes at 350°F. Rub off the skins for as many hazelnuts as you can and then add the nuts to a food processor. Blend the nuts until they are smooth like butter then add the vanilla extract, cacao powder, maple syrup, almond milk, coconut oil and sea salt. Blend until it's all creamy and smooth and add a little more of the ingredients above if needed. Pair with your favorite fruits or other snacks!
