The cardiologist wrote the book Wheat Belly in which he explains that carbs have become less healthy because of the way it is manufactured and has a bad effect on the human body. He explains that the wheat is turned into sugar quickly in the blood which in part makes your insulin levels rise faster than they should and results in your body storing more fat.
Wheat also ages you faster according to the doctor because it stiffens the collagen in your skin leading to wrinkles and other skin imperfections. The aging factor is only one of the many negative side effects caused by wheat consumptions according to Dr. Davis. Internally it can cause you to have clogged arteries, dimentia, arthritis, even kidney dysfunction.
Dr. Davis believes to achieve the ultimate weight loss and best health you can have, eliminate wheat, and replace it with fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, meats, eggs, and sugar-free dressings. There are also many meals you can make at home to replace packaged store-bought foods. The brains behind Wheat Belly says that by eliminating these "bad" foods you will see a difference in your body in a matter of two weeks. For faster results, he recommends cutting out rice and potatoes.
