There's a new beauty product out that I just NEED to talk about. Apparently there's a drinkable sunscreen that's said to provide you with the same amount of SPF 30-like protection as any of those SPF lotions or sprays you apply topically to your skin. Osmosis Skincare's UV Neutralized Harmonized Water uses purified water and unique vibrational waves that supposedly work to neutralize and protect you from UV rays. It also claims to enhance tanning effects from the sun, at least that's what it says on their site. Am I the only one who smells BS here?

It's hard for me to believe that purified water that comes in a 3.38-ounce bottle and retails for $30 is enough to protect my skin from the sun and lessen my chances of developing burns or even skin cancer. I really hope no one else is buying into this nonsense because if it really doesn't work, this could be potentially dangerous for people who decide to use this without applying real sunscreen. Did I mention that the Food and Drug Administration hasn't evaluated any of these claims? And Dr. Ben Johnson, the founder and formulator of Osmosis Skincare isn't even a dermatologist!
Dr. Jessica Krant, an actual dermatologist who practices in New York told the Huffington Post that the products are "totally unsubstantiated pseudoscience" that "do not list any active ingredients anywhere publicly available that might suggest true efficacy in any kind of protection from sun damage." Go figure!
What did I say? Sorry, but until the FDA approves it and this company can come up with real scientific evidence that this thing really does work, I'm sticking to my SPF lotions. There are a ton of great ones out there that definitely get the job done. In fact, here are some of the best sunscreens for summer 2014! Be sure to try these instead!

Neutrogena

Most dermatologists recommend wearing sunscreen that contains at least SPF 30. Try Neutrogena Beach Defense Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($10). This light-weight, oil-free formula absorbs quickly and it's water resistant feature lasts up to 80 minutes.
Hawaiian Tropic

Find lotions messy? Try a spray sunscreen, like Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Clear Mist Spray SPF 30 ($11). It coats skin so evenly you don't even have to worry about rubbing it in the way you would with a lotion formula. It also keeps skin super hydrated and of course smells delicious!
Aveeno

If your skin burns or irritates easily, you need to try Aveeno Natural Protection Lotion Sunscreen with Broad Spectrum SPF 50 ($11). It's loaded with oat extract that helps nourish and soothe even the most sensitive skin, while also providing broad spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection from head to toe.
COOLA

I don't know about you, but I can't stand the way most sunscreen formulas smell, which is why I'm going to be using COOLA Sport SPF 30 Unscented Sunscreen Spray ($32) this summer because it protects and hydrates skin with certified ingredients like cucumber, algae and atawberry extracts. It also has absolutely no scent– just how I like it!
Supergoop

Heading to the beach with the entire familia? Then bring something big enough for everyone, like Supergoop Everyday Sunscreen with Cellular Response Technology SPF 50 ($48). It will have everyone covered!
Australian Gold

Australian Gold Sheer Coverage Continuous Spray with Kona Coffee Infused Bronzers SPF 50 ($12) is a sunscreen and self-tanner in one. So you can stay protected but still rock that sexy, sun-kissed glow.
Nyakio

Need a good sunscreen just for your face? Try Nyakio Hydrating Face Lotion with Kola Nut Broad Spectrum SPF 20 ($49). It provides protection from UV rays for up to 12 hours, but it's also infused with ivory coast kola nut, the African miracle oil, marula and roobois tea that hydrates, smooths and evens your complexion. It also minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles too. Tell me that doesn't sound like an awesome sunscreen?
