We are allowed to indulge during the colder months because after all isn't it a survival of the fittest biological response? Sadly all those extra pieces of pie and rich foods have probably piled up in your problem areas and now it's time to whittle your middle again.
As women we tend to collect extra fat around our stomach creating those unsightly chichos we all dread. Well, chica, you're soon going to be chicho-free if you listen to these rules. With the right tools and diet, you should be back on track in no time. In fact your friends will be asking how you did it!
Follow the tips below to blast that muffin top off fast!
Eat fats: This might sound contradictory, but eating the RIGHT fats is key to eliminating those chichos. Snack on (unsalted)nuts, nut butters, and make sure to add avocados and salmon to your salads for your daily dose of monounsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids.
Low-glycemic fruits: Pile on strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, apples, peaches, and pears to get your fiber and vitamin C intake. The good thing about these specific fruits is that they are naturally not high in sugar, therefore they are perfect to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Don't rely on ab exercises: Contrary to popular belief, you CANNOT spot reduce. Instead try high intensity interval training (HIIT) which alternates between high intensity and low intensity bursts of activity. This will cause you to burn more fat and the best part is, it can be done in as little as 20 minutes. Here is a sample of an ideal HIIT workout.
Eat carbs: Eliminating carbs may be doing you a disservice. Eat your carb filled foods for breakfast and keep it light for dinnertime. Preferably nourish your body with complex carbs such as brown rice, whole wheat pasta, quinoa, and sweet potatoes.
Set a bedtime: People who don't sleep enough tend to have more fat in their abdominal region than those who do. That's because the body produces more ghrelin (hunger stimulating hormone) which makes you overeat during the day. Aim to get about seven hours of shut eye when you can to avoid excess belly fat.
