You'd be surprised to know that some of our favorite meals during this time of the year are actually quite good for you. Not only do they provide nutrition your body needs, but they're delicious and keep you full so you don't gorge on the less healthy stuff.
Check out what you should pile on your plate this season below!
Nuts: As long as they aren't salted, nuts are a great snack to munch on while you wait for a main course. They're high in fiber, offer lots of vitamin E, keep your blood sugar levels stable, and helps ward off type 2 diabetes.
Cheese: Hard cheeses such as gouda provide lots of protein and make you feel fuller faster and ward off other cravings.
Sweet potatoes: Avoid filling these superfoods with marshmallows and butter and you have the perfect healthy dish. Cook them first before roasting and you'll get serving of vitamin A, potassium, fiber, and cancer-fighting traits.
Cranberries: I'm not talking about the canned one either. Fresh cranberry sauce that's not loaded with sugar is filled with fiber and antioxidants and lowers bad cholesterol.
Red wine: Yes, you can have alcohol! If you can opt for red wine which has tons of antioxidants. If you choose a dry version, you'll get even more of them.
