Jennifer Livingston, a spokeswoman for Atkins Nutritionals told the New York Daily News that Kim has done the Atkins Diet in the past and knew it worked. Once her doctor gave her clearance to do it, she was given a food plan which was healthy enough while she breastfed. Therefore North wasn't at risk as mommy tried to drop the baby weight.
Well, it sure seems to be working for this Kardashian! It can also work for you if you're looking to drop some pounds. In fact, here is how you can slowly transition into the Atkins diet without feeling deprived of your favorite carbs!
Add lean protein: The Atkins diet is high in lean protein such as chicken breast, meat, fish, all of which are intended to keep you fuller longer.
Healthy fats: Many people believe fats are bad for you, but the truth is, that it depends on what food source you are getting it from. Healthy fats come from nuts, avocado, peanut butter, olives, and many oils.
Leafy Greens: It's important that veggies are a part of your diet and these include Spinach, Kale, Collard Greens, Arugula and more.
Some fruits: Certain fruits are not allowed on Atkins early on due to their high sugar content, but are allowed later in the diet. These include bananas, mangos, grapes, and cherries to name a few. Low sugar fruits that are permitted are blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, and watermelon.
Whole Grains: Surprise, you can have bread on Atkins! The trick is you are able to eat it later on in the diet and it can only be whole grains. That means brown rice, whole wheat pasta/ bread. Avoid white breads and sugary desserts as much as you can because their simple carbs can make you pack on the pounds!
