8 Easy ways every mami can make time for herself

Welcome to my new blog for MamásLatinas! We're calling it Mami Makeover because as moms we tend to cater to everyone but ourselves. It's just in our nature to put ourselves last. However, in order to be a better mom, we have to start putting ourselves first. 

Taking care of YOU is important—don't feel guilty or beat yourself up about it. It's important to be happy and establish a balance when it comes to family.

I try to follow the advice I'm sharing with you below in order to keep my peace of mind and continue being the best mom I can be every day.

1. Alone time: You should take 45 minutes of alone time each day. This time alone will help you detox from the craziness you may deal with at home. Try to eat lunch by yourself, take some time right before bed or just wake up a little earlier in order to reflect.

2. Take naps: Do you realize how a 30-minute nap can make you feel like a new woman? Your entire mental, physical and emotional state will change if you just rest your eyes for a few.

3. Get a massage: Need I say more? Don't you feel wonderful after a massage? Having someone rub on you, releasing all the bad toxins in your body is key to reducing any ongoing stress.

4. Spend time with friends: When you bond with your girlfriends, it's the best time ever. I recommend taking a break from family and hanging out with people who will make you feel free.

5. Exercise: For me, exercising is a stress reliever. Not only that, I relish the way my body changes and improves after each workout. These changes bring me more confidence and I know it will do the same for you.

6. Two words: Retail therapy! Shopping makes me feel soooooo good! Buy something super special for yourself (within your means, of course) and don't feel guilty about the purchase. You deserve it, mom!

7. Eat healthy: Being that I'm a pescetarian, it's important for me to eat healthy. If you change your diet, you won't feel as heavy or sluggish and will have renewed energy!

8. Stay off social media: Have you guys noticed that sometimes I'm not on social media? I am very quick to inform everyone that I'm going into my cave. There is nothing like having a clear head, reflecting on what's to come and reading my Bible. Disconnecting from the world is a beautiful thing.

Only you know what you really need in order to make your life better. I promise if you do a few of the above, you will be stress free, happier and focused. Why continue to feel overwhelmed, exhausted and stressed? Please, take time for yourself and I promise you won't regret it!
