Mother with superpower hearing thinks her special skill is super annoying

Julie Redfern is a 47-year-old mother of three from Padiham, England and she has a hearing superpower. Oh, she can hear things that you or I couldn't possibly imagine. Like her eyeballs moving or her brain wobbling around inside her head. Sounds totally freaky and mortifying to me. Her superhearing isn't a case of bionics, it is actually a very rare condition called superior canal dehiscence syndrome (SCDS).

Redfern wasn't born with this condition, she actually didn't even notice it until she was about 40 year old and playing Tetris. She kept hearing this totally weird sound and then figured out it was the sound of her eyeballs moving around. She went to the doctor and was told it probably just had to do with aging, but she was not convinced.

I'm sorry, but just reading about Redfern's condition makes me feel like I'm going to get a panic attack. It sounds absolutely awful, like it would completely take over your life. She lived with this issue for seven years not knowing what it was until she read an article about a man who had the same issues as her and took the article to her doctor.

SCDS is caused by tiny holes in the ear canal where they shouldn't be there and allow leaking of liquid into the brain. Despite major risks like deafness and facial deformity, Redfern underwent surgery to correct the damage in her right ear. I'm sure she can't wait to get her other ear operated on as well.

Really, I'm totally freaked out by this poor woman's story. I have a hard time falling asleep when there is a ringing in my ears or a faucet is dripping. I think it would be like torture to hear every little thing that goes on inside my body.
