Painful weight loss tongue patch is the worst dieting idea ever!

Would you go as far as having a patch stitched to your tongue to lose weight? Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Nicolas Chugay has come up with a new weight loss method which will help you lose up to 30 pounds in a month, but the catch is that it's extremely painful. Dr. Chugay's tongue patch is sewn onto the tongue and keeps you from eating solid foods because of how painful it feels to do so. In fact, it forces you to follow a liquid diet.

The patch has yet to be FDA-approved (we can see why!) and is worn for up to a month but can cause difficulty sleeping and with tongue movement. More than 60 women have gotten the patch since 2009 and if you have $2,000 lying around, you can too!

The patch which is made of Marlex, a plastic mesh used to make hula hoops is about the size of a postage stamp. Although the procedure sounds painful, you will be shocked to know that its popularity has skyrocketed in Venezuela. According to the U.K. Daily Mail, the patch is cheaper in Venezuela, where it goes for $150, and one clinic in Caracas has already done over 900 surgeries a month since 2011. One woman says it's the only effective weight loss procedure she's ever done because she lacks the willpower.

However, it might sound scary to even go through if it means starving yourself for the most part. Dr. Chugay denies this and says he provides an easy 800 calorie a day that is supposed to give you all the nutrition you need for the day and increases weight loss results.

According to Dr.Chugay's site, the weight loss patch surgery lasts less than an hour and the patient is fitted for the right patch. The recovery period is quick too and patients can return to work the next day as well. But there is some bad side effects as Dr. Chugay warns that patients may experience tongue swelling and difficulty speaking after the surgery. For the weight loss extremist, this strategy might be well received, but the rest may remain apprehensive.

If you ask me, there's nothing healthy or appealing about this extreme weight loss method. I know we all want an easy way out, but this is definitely pushing boundaries. Putting yourself through the pain and discomfort for weight loss is not worth it especially when it's such an unhealthy method. Being healthy is a lifestyle and this patch will only push you in the opposite direction of your weight loss goals.
