Do you want to know how long you will live? Well, there's an app for that. No big surprise since nowadays there really does seem to be an app for just about everything. How did we live before apps? The Ignite Wellness Lyfstyle Tracker app will calculate your life expectancy. How, you ask?

Based on your day-to-day activities like having pie, exercising, binge drinking, you name it, the app will assign you a "life number," which will give you an expectation of when you will kick the proverbial bucket. You are supposed to use the app in conjunction with something called the Ignite Pad that, which connects to your smartphone and assesses your weight and exercise levels over time.
I guess it is supposed to be a kind of digital cheerleader with interative goals, a reward point system, and social interaction to draw users into healthy competition. Sounds like a total buzz-kill to me. No thank you!
Let's say it's my birthday and I have a slice of cake, the app tracks that and subtracts seconds from my life. I work my butt off on the stationary bike or go for a super long walk and the app only adds seconds to my life. Ugh! I'd rather eat cake. Or you know what–I'd rather be healthy and fit because it is good for me and my quality of life in the present. I don't want to "banking" all of my good-for-me deeds in the hopes that some app will tell me I'll live longer.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems counterproductive to focus on death when trying to live a healthy life. I'm sure the app is really just trying to focus on longevity, but it's hard to thing of how long I'll live without thinking about when I'll die. I just don't need an app for that, thank you very much.
