1. Drink water. Repeat after me: I will drink water throughout the day. Water is good for you, it's a far better choice than any soda, coffee, or sugary drinks. Up to 60 percent of your body is water, your brain is 70 percent water, your lungs are 90 percent water, you need water. Your body craves it. Drinking water also helps your stomach feel full. Sometimes you may think you are hungry when you are actually just thirsty. And don't tell me you don't like the taste of water, come on! Water is divine, refreshing, and should be your drink of choice.
2. Eat green and orange vegetables. Green and orange vegetables contain about 90 percent water. Yup, water (see above)! Not only are these veggies good for you nutritionally, all that water in them makes you feel full.
3. Spice up your meals. Add some flavor to your grub. Bland food does not satisfy. Spicy foods packed with fresh ingredients like salsa, satisfy your palate and help your belly feel full faster.
4. Eat slowly. Really, take your time, enjoy that meal, or snack. Pay attention to it. Don't just scarf it down while you watch TV or work on the computer. How many times have you eaten something and not really tasted it? That bag of chips is gone before you even notice. Practice being present, in the moment, and give your meals the respect and attention they deserve. You will enjoy your food more and you will eat less because you will give your body and brain time to acknowledge what it is ingesting. You are not going to win any prizes for eating fast unless you are entered in a hot dog eating contest at the fair.
__5. Use vinegar and cinnamon as much as possible. __Both help your body regulate blood sugar levels and can help you feel full for hours after eating.
6. Don't be afraid of fat. Omega-3s in fish, nut oils, and olive oil actually help you feel full, satisfied, and keep you from overindulging in the kinds of fats and oils that are bad for you!
