So what is it, exactly? What's the secret to reaching your weight loss goals? Here it is: The secret to actually reaching your goals is to come up with a happy weight for yourself. I don't mean that I-wish-I-was-this-skinny numbers on the scale or wanting to go back to what you weighed in high school or on your wedding day. That might not be a reasonable achievement, I'm afraid to say.
Instead, you should focus on finding a weight that you feel comfortable with. It should be more-or-less within your BMI range but, most importantly, it should be a weight that you can reasonably achieve with healthy eating and exercise. You shouldn't have to starve yourself or go on crazy diets. You should feel comfortable in your body and happy that you aren't depriving yourself all the time OR eating every dulcecito in sight.
Although you can find a Happy Weight Calculator on Self.com, and plenty of advice about how to find a healthy ideal weight as well as how losing just 10 percent of your body weight is beneficial, I think that you have to find a weight that you personally like. Sure, it's best to get the advice of your doctor as well, but your weight should be one that you are comfortable in maintaining with your new, healthy habits.
