Here's the thing: Changing the lighting and music in your home while you're dining can actually have a BIG impact on how many calories you consume–200 calories, to be exact!

That's right. A 2012 study found that diners ate 200 less calories when they were seated in the low-lighting, slow-music section of a fine dining restaurant. And I have to say that it really works! I don't know what it is, but there's something about having a nicer atmosphere that actually helps to slow down your eating and allows you to really get in touch with your body.

You can also try this technique when having family dinner: try lowering the lights and setting some slow Latin music in the background. You might be pretty surprised by how the mood is instantly calmer. Plus, of course, always ask to be seated in the calmest section of the restaurant when you're dining out to reap the same benefits when you go out.

So, eat up in low lighting tonight and then come back tomorrow for Tip #26!
