Unless you're one of those chipper morning people (which I definitely am NOT), you probably enjoy hitting the snooze button a few too many times in the morning. When it comes time to exercise, I've heard before that morning exercise is the best and, to be honest, the easiest to achieve with all of our busy schedules, but now it turns out that there's an even better reason to exercise before breakfast: it's by far the BEST way to burn off 20 percent more of the extra fat you've been carrying around!

According to The Daily Mail, new research has found that people who wake up early and exercise on an empty stomach (before your first and most important meal of the day) can actually burn 20 percent more body fat during that workout. I mean, who doesn't want that?!
Even more amazingly, although researchers thought that this might be the opposite case, people who exercised in the morning did not end up eating additional calories at breakfast or lunch to make up for the ones they lost earlier. In fact, not only did they not consume more food, but they also didn't feel an increase in appetite to compensate for the morning activity.

As someone who doesn't really like to wake up early in the morning, I do find this news pretty encouraging. Typically after exercise I'm pretty hungry, so the fact that I will be burning more fat AND not actually consuming more calories sounds like the best way to lose weight if I ever heard one! I guess this finally solves the riddle of when we should all be exercising.
