I think we all know what the hardest thing about the Holiday Season is. It's not overspending money on Christmas presents, getting trampled during frantic shopping, freaking out because you don't know what to make for Nochebuena dinner nor not having enough to finish everything on your pre-Christmas to do list. No, for me, the hardest thing about this season is all of the food. No matter where I look, there's cookies, fattening cocktails, and more food than I can imagine eating in a lifetime. My biggest issue is how to enjoy Christmas without gaining weight. Well, luckily there is a SUPER easy way to keep off the holiday weight and it doesn't involve dieting!

A new study from the University of East Anglia's Norwich Medical School and Durham University analyzed 33 different trials from all over the world, involving almost 75,000 men, women and children. Well, the results, which were published in the British Medical Journal, seemed to have found the key to significant weight loss and reduction in body mass index. And all you need to do is reduce fat in your diet! The study authors write:
This means having low fat milk and yogurt, cutting down on butter and cheese, and cutting the fat off meat. Most importantly have fruit instead of fatty snacks like biscuits, cake and crisps. And remember, this isn't a diet, so don't take it to extremes, but work out a way of eating that you can stick to permanently.

Well, that definitely sounds easy and manageable! My favorite part about the findings is that researchers seem to really want to emphasize lifestyle changes (like choosing fruit over chips for a snack) instead of dieting, which never lasts. I don't know if I'll be able to full cut out cheese, but I'll definitely be looking for more low-fat alternatives when it comes to milk, yogurt and lean red meat. If that's really all it takes to keep the weight off this Holiday Season, then I'm definitely putting this advice at the top of my To Do List!
