A new bra can accurately detect breast cancer (VIDEO)

Breast cancer is a big concern for women and the medical field, which is why I wasn't surprised to learn about a new bra constructed by Lifeline Biotechnologies that is meant to detect breast cancer before it happens. The bra is meant to detect breast tissue abnormalities and has actually been in the works for the past 20 years.

This is great news!

The company says it will begin to sell the "smart bra," called First Warning Systems, in the US starting in 2014 and Europe by next year if it passes its first test trials. The amazing new device is said to be able to accurately find cancer 90 percent more accurately than current detectors and works on women of all ages. Amazing!

This is one of the reasons why I am so thankful for advancing technology. To be able to detect one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in Latinas before it occurs is excellent!  The sports bra-like machine is encased with sensors that read temperature in breast tissue and collect data later sent to the internet to be analyzed for any suspicious activity and the results are sent right back to the patient.

This new form of technology will be a great help in detecting breast cancer as the Susan G. Komen foundation claims that mammograms tend to misread exams by 50 to 60 percent and there turns out to be many false positives. This device is intended to give accurate results, which is important since breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women in the United States–and even more important for us Latinas because according to government figures, we're diagnosed much later than other women, making breast cancer more difficult to treat and more deadly!

It's exciting to see helpful new medical tools on the market intended to detect one of women's deadliest killers before it's too late. This may just be revolutionary and an effective way to catch the disease at its earliest stages and to combat it while doctors can. And it's hopeful news for us Latinas as well!
