5 Easy ways that busy moms can lose weight!

We're all pretty busy these days, aren't we? I know that as much as I am always thinking about keeping the weight off ever since I lost 100 pounds a few years ago, sometimes it slips my mind and I find myself sliding back into old habits. What's a girl to do? I just don't always have time to make a healthy, filling salad for lunch of spend an hour at the gym!

Well, that's EXACTLY what I love about these tips on how a busy person can easily lose weight. In fact, I'm expanding it and, based on my own up-and-down experience, offering some tips of my own on the 5 easiest ways that busy Latinas like us can lose weight. Won't you join me?

1. Stop eating white, especially bread.

I try to cut out all of the bad-for-you white things I can out of my diet. This typically includes white potatoes, white sugar, white rice, and white grains. The reason is that they’re highly processed, contain less fiber and leave you wanting more of that kind of food sooner. The worst culprit, though, is bread and wheat! Save these items ONLY for special occasions.

2. Cut your restaurant meals in half.

Whenever I go out to eat, I make it a rule to divide my plate in half immediately. The reason for this is that restaurant portions are SO huge that nobody really needs that much food. Instead, I wrap up half to eat for lunch the next day, and eat the half still on the plate tonight. This can also work when serving big plates at home. Or even try serving food on smaller plates!

3. Snack on fruits & veggies only!

Snacking is a huge, huge weakness of mine. The problem is that because I typically eat smaller meals, I tend to get hungry in between. This is perfectly fine and some say even better for you, however, it is NOT a good idea to indulge your snacking with anything but fruits and veggies and, if I’m really hungry, some nuts. Stick to the basics to cure that naughty hunger.

4. Drink water: lots & lots of water!

It’s no secret that some of our favorite drinks, like batidos and margaritas, are going to add a ton of calories to our daily diet. Although I would never tell you to never have a piña colada in your life, I do say one thing: during the week, drink water! Drink water all day long, eight cups or more if you can manage it, and save your liquid calories for the weekend–and just a few at that!

5. Work out a little, even just 20 minutes.

Look, I hate it probably as much as you do: exercise isn’t and has never been my strong suit. Still, I make it a point to do a LITTLE something, even if it’s just walking around the block during my lunch break. Although there are varying studies about what you should do and how long you should do it for, my general rule is: Anyone can fit in a stroll for 20 minutes a day.
