Feared the swine flu? Well, now there's something ELSE for you and your family to worry about! There's a new germ going around and it is SUPER deadly. The newest superbug has been determined to be untreatable by most antibiotics and, according to the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Maryland, it has just taken its seventh victim: a young boy from Minnesota who died on September 7.

I'm usually pretty calm when it comes to the flu scares. I always think: Well, I'm young and in the prime of my life, so what is there to worry about? When the swine flu craze was pretty bad a few years ago, I didn't even bother to get a regular flu shot. "Why bother?" I thought, "I'll be fine."
The latest news, though, has definitely gotten me freaked out over the boy's death after he contracted the bug when being treated for complications from a bone marrow transplant, according to the Baltimore Sun. Not only that, but he was the 19th patient at the hospital to catch the antibiotic-resistant strain of KPC, or Klebsiella pneumoniae.

What happens if this superbug keeps spreading and more people keep dying? It's pretty terrifying that it's not responding to any antibiotics. What now? Well I, for one, am hoping that the NIH can develop a new, stronger antibiotic–and fast! And all moms: Look into flu shots and other preventative measures to avoid spreading and getting contaminated by these diseases! It's the least we could all do.
