I’m calling BS on this new weight loss perfume

I've heard of some crazy ways for losing weight. There's all kinds of diets out there that make my head spin, like the Master Cleanse drink (which is basically lemon water, maple syrup and cayenne pepper—for a week!) and the Air Diet (which basically asks you to PRETEND to eat), but I've never heard of something so crazy as a weight loss perfume.

I mean, are they serious? Did someone really invent a perfume that supposedly helps you drop the pounds? I'm sorry but I just do NOT understand how this could be possible!

According to Jezebel, the world's first weight loss perfume "smells like depressing bullshit" and is promising people to "slim with pleasure" thanks to "notes of caffeine, carnitine and spirulina." That just sounds bizarre and crazy to me. Why would you want caffeine or much less spirulina smell in your perfume? I don't even KNOW what that third ingredient is! Weird, weird, weird. From the Fragrance Shop website, this is how it supposedly works:

Designed to 'slim with pleasure' PRENDS-MOI is based on extensive aromatherapeutic and 'neurocosmetic' research…A 'pleasure message' is transmitted through the neurotransmitters (impulse from a nerve cell to another nerve, muscle, organ or other tissue) to the hippocampus (the 'odour brain') triggering an immediate sensation of well being, a reduction in stress and an increase in contentment reducing the need to overeat.

Okay, I do kind of believe in aromatherapy and whatnot… but this all sounds pretty crazy to me. I don't know if I can believe that spritzing on some special perfume is going to help me lose weight. Perfume is for smelling pretty, weight loss is achieved through hard work and the calories in/calories out equation. That's all. I don't think those two things intersect. I mean, seriously? I am just NOT convinced.
