If you’ve ever caught glimpses of her home on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed that the woman does not live in a shack. Far from it. Her home is palatial, so much so that Architectural Digest asked for a tour. Sofía graciously obliged and now we can all look inside her home. Let’s start with pics and videos of some of the spaces and then take the full-on video tour.
You know a house must be extraordinary to make the cover of 'AD.'
Architectural Digest doesn't just ask anybody for a tour of their home, much less put the owner of the home on the cover. So you know that Sofía's home being featured on the cover of their March 2024 issue is a big deal.
According to Sofía, the place used to be kind of ick.
“There were arches on top of arches, all with columns. It felt like a castle in Transylvania,” the Modern Family alum told AD. “But the layout was perfect, and I loved that you could see the landscape from every room, even though there wasn’t much of a garden to look at yet. I knew what I would do to make it my own,” she insists.
She transformed the place with the help of designer Ohara Davies-Gaetano.
Thanks to Instagram, Sofía was familiar with the work of Ohara Davies-Gaetano, who happens to be based in Los Angeles. “I called her, we clicked, and I fell in love with her ideas,” the Griselda actor told AD. “When I handed her my inspiration folder, I realized most of the images were hers.”
She's not a fan of color when it comes to home decor.
“If it were up to me, everything would be monochromatic. I don’t like crazy jolts of color, and I really don’t like pastels—they remind me of The Golden Girls,” the Griselda actor joked.
What vibe did Sofía want for her home?
“She wanted a home that felt ethereal yet grounded, something fresh, clean, and bright, with lots of great antiques that added patina and warmth to the architecture,” Ohara told AD.
Sofía wanted guests to feel at ease.
“I’m not afraid to spend money, but it has to be for something practical, not just things that are there to look good. I didn’t want furniture that is so precious that people would be afraid to use and enjoy it,” Sofía shared.
She doesn't cook, but she still spends a lot of time in the kitchen.
“It’s hard to take the people out of the kitchen,” she told AD. Can you blame them? The kitchen has anything and everything a person could want. Plus, there’s plenty of room to sit and relax and it’s bigger than some apartments.
Her formal dining room is to die for.
The ceiling has some incredible hand-painted details. The room also features an 18th century tapestry that ties the entire room together. Plus, she keeps the cabinets filled with exquisite china and drinkware.
The proud Colombian also owns a Botero.
"One of my bucket list [items] was to own anything from Fernando Botero, one of the most amazing, prolific artists in Colombia," she shared. "I always dreamed of having one." Well, the dream in is now a reality. You can see the matador painted by Botero in her living room behind her friend there.
Of course, her closet is magnificent!
Her closet is so spacious and fabulous that her Modern Family costars Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Julie Bowen had to admire it. Makes sense since Pritchett Closets and Blinds was their family business on the show.
Is there a pool?
She a famous actor living in Los Angeles, of course there is a pool and an outdoor paradise to surround it. From this video, you can see that she has a guest/pool house as well and lots of room for cute dogs to run.
Check out one of her bathrooms.
This must be her main bathroom because she takes quite a few selfies in. Who wouldn't want to take a selfie in that room. Look at the geometric tiles and the woman. Gorgeous!
What’s her favorite part of the property?
She loves the backyard and that “every room opens up to the pool and the backyard even when you’re upstairs in the guest rooms.” She seems to spend a lot of time in her backyard area either entertaining or just enjoying it on her own or with a pup.
Having such a beautiful outdoor space at your disposal has got to be wonderful. The weather in Los Angeles tends to lend itself to outdoor activities, so I imagine Sofía hosts get togethers in her yard often.

Do you see what I mean about it being extravagant and cozy at the same time? The place is oozing luxury, but it's not precious. It's inviting. The furniture is elegant, but beckons you to have a seat. Congratulations, Sofía! You've created a home that must be incredibly hard to leave, but must feel like heaven when you return.
