You don't have to be a clean freak to be concerned about germs and bacteria. I'm all for letting kids play with dirt and exposing them to different things to boost their immune system, but I draw the line with the dirt that will make them sick for sure. In the toilet

The dirtiest part of the toilet is not the bowl, as many people think, but the handle to release the water. Never forget to wipe it daily. A disinfectant wipe or a cloth dipped into water with Clorox should do the trick.

The light switches

Hardly anybody remembers to clean the light switches around the home, or anywhere for that matter. If your kid is older than four, give them a wipe with a cleaning solution at the end of the day. You will be surprised at how much healthier you all will be.

The door knobs

I keep a hand sanitizer in my purse and use it every time I have to touch a door knob outside my house. Just imagine how many hands have left germs there. Clean the ones in your home with a disinfecting product. If somebody is sick, do it often. Some viruses can live days outside the human body.

Shopping carts

Don't be one of those people that thinks it's stupid to use the wipes that some stores provide to clean the handles of their shopping carts. Honestly, the carts are disgusting. Be thorough, particularly if you are sitting your kids in there.

The hospital beds

With small boys and an athletic husband, I've had a good share of ER visits. If they don't have disinfectant wipes around, make your own with a paper towel or toilet paper and the hand disinfectant foam. Attack any handle around the bed and the door with the same strength you use for the toilet.

School backpack

Small grubby hands carry that poor backpack everyday. Sometimes, other kids touch it too. My sons get a nice wipedown every day, particularly on the handles and the zippers. There you should use a towel with warm water and a disinfectant product or a wipe. Wash them regularly, even if they look clean.

Sports equipment

If your kids or you are active in sports, don't forget to disinfect the bags and the equipment regularly. I'm not only talking about dirty shoes and socks. Pay special attention to racket handles, balls, weights, etc. Nothing has more chance to make you sick, than those things that are touched many times by different people.

Airplane seats and trays

I would get sick every time I took a plane until I decided to bring some Clorox wipes with me and wiped all the hard surfaces around my seat, right after sitting down. They looked clean, but I they weren't germ free. Do it and you will thank me for the tip.

Your electronics

Wipe your phone, tablet, etc, at least once a day with a disinfectant wipe. Same applies for your computer keyboard, mouse and regular phone, if you still use one. Ew!

Your handbag and wallet

Do yourself a favor and clean the handles, zippers and locks. If you worry that the disinfectant may damage your handbag or wallet, try it first in a corner.
